The Children of Yekope

Mercy

Abandoned at the hospital at birth, she joined Yekope and is now thriving as the big sister. She's very helpful to the younger kids, and is finishing up 1st grade.

Michael

Michael's mother tragically passed away eight days after his birth. He was welcomed to Yekope due to aging families inability to properly care for him. He was unable to walk due to soft bones due to malnourishment. Now at 6 y/o he walks and runs and enjoys leading soccer games.

Dominion

Abandoned at birth, with unknown relatives.

Minister of Women's affairs brought Dominion through the doors of Yekope.

Isaac

Isaac lost his mother immediately after child birth. Grandparents could not adequately care for him. He was welcomed to Yekope and is almost 2 now.

Emanuel

Mother was a victim of sexual abuse. He came to Yekope at the tender age of 7 months. He's now 2 years old.

Grace

Grace is the very first orphan we took in. Her mother passed away and father is unable to care for her. She was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy annd was unable to walk or talk, and covered in rashes. She began to walk at Yekope at 5 years old and with her community is making efforts to talk.

Favor

Concerned friends thwarted the mother's attempt to discontinue the pregnancy now a lovely smiling Favor is thriving at the age of 6 at Yekope.

David

Mother suffers from mental illness and lacked proper shelter for herself and David, often sleeping in under construction buildings. He was welcomed to Yekope at 5 months old. We are also seeking resources for the mother.

Lazarus

Born to an underage mother, Lazarus was rejected at birth due to shame. Due to poverty, the mother's family brought Lazarus to Yekope to be cared for.

Blessing

Abandoned at 9 months, she was found on an elementary school ground and brought to us. She is now 5 and thrives with the other children despite being diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia.

Ibrahim

Ibrahim is a trooper. He was found wondering the streets alone. He had no knowledge of his parents or any relatives, or residence. He was found by police and brought to Yekope by the State Ministry of Child Services. He loves school.
